Health
Collective Projects
At Carabiner, we’ve always known that well designed buildings benefit the physical and mental health of the people that use them. Now there is even a name for it - “salutogenic architecture”. It’s a fancy buzzword that refers to those qualities of good design that have scientifically proven neurological benefits for maintaining health and even aiding recovery from illness. Good design features that should be applied in all architecture, such as access to views and natural daylight, connection to nature, good acoustics, good indoor air quality, intuitive wayfnding, and appropriate use of colours, patterns, and textures.
Healthy environments are important for all buildings where people live and work, but none more so than healthcare facilities where people are at their most vulnerable. It’s a privilege to be entrusted with the design of healthcare facilities because it provides an opportunity to apply our passion and our expertise to benefit so many people, including health workers, patients and their families. It’s a great responsibility too - one which our team at Carabiner embrace on every health project we do.
